The SEG Story

I started SEG after I took a production class at our local community access station. The station was hard pressed for original local production material so I thought I’d try my hand at producing. That’s when I discovered just how rich Redding and Shasta County were in film, TV, and artisan talent.

At the same time as my career in productions started, the economy started falling apart globally as well as locally. Here in Redding, businesses were closing and friends were losing their homes. That’s when it hit me.

Why not create a living, breathing industry here that could start employing people right away, promote local businesses, has a broad tax base, produces, markets, and distributes, is lots of fun, and is extremely eco-friendly?

A new-age Entertainment Industry in conjunction with telecommunications would fit wonderfully here in Shasta County.

Then it hit me again, why not design, and build our own, first-of-its’s-kind, all green film studio!

That’s how SEG came up with Stillwater. The concept of Stillwater Village took on a life of its own and has become a Community Vision being supported by Community Effort.
